The need for development of relevant disciplines
The life sciences are a fast-growing frontier field involving many scientific disciplines which strongly influence the health, economic growth, and social development of human beings. It is one of the basic natural science fields attracting the most attention in today's world. In recent years, Chinese scientists in the life sciences have achieved remarkable accomplishments thanks to the active and critical role played by various life science societies in driving the development of theirrespective disciplines.。

Need for the development of relevant societies
There is a need to enhance the communication and resource sharing among member societies, to strengthen the international influence of China's life science community, to better undertake functions transferred from the government, and to accelerate the development of the societies themselves.。

Support from the CAST
As advocated by the CAST, the China Union of Life Science Societies was officially formed by 11 founding societies. The Union will invite and attract all life science societies within CAST to join, so that The Union will be able to serve the member societies on more solid basis and become a link for even closer connections and a driver for the development of life sciences in China.
